Summarize past medical records of incoming patients

Intro

AI Scribing is one way to help veterinarians to focus on the pet and reduce the burnout of medical records. But, the buck doesn’t stop there! Introducing “Pre-History” from VetRec. The easiest and quickest way to get a summary of an incoming pet’s medical record!

Why did we do this

VetRec strives to be the veterinarian’s best friend. Anything we can do to assist with inefficiencies of the clinic we are going to work on by leveraging the power of Artificial Intelligence.

Veterinarians often receive mutliple PDFs of past history for an incoming patient that they need to spend time reading and understanding. Sometimes these are even handwritten notes that they can barely understand. Not to mention the long-dreaded Banfield 15-page documents.

Unreadable handwritten notes

VetRec’s “Pre-History” allows the Veterinarian to summarize these long pdfs of patient history into a nicely-formatted list of section summaries for them to quickly understand what’s going on with the pet before treating them.

From the early users who gave feedback and helped shape the feature, they are already reporting a massive reduction in time spent understanding and reading the important parts of the medical records. They sometimes go from 25 minutes all the way to two!

How does it work

So, how does it work?

Simple as 1,2,3!

  1. Navigate to your pet’s session in VetRec and upload your PDF (or multiple PDFs!) in the Pre-History tab
  2. Confirm the files are uploaded and click Summarize
  3. Wait about 20 seconds and take a look at the nicely-formatted important sections in a summarized manner!

Lastly, don’t forget to send us feedback on how we can continue improving and the types of extra features you’d like to see!

Conclusion

VetRec is the Veterinarians’ best friend. Anything we can do to help streamline the efficiency and reduce the burnout of an already-stressful job, we are here for it.
