Phone Calling in VetRec

Eagle-eyed VetRec users may have noticed a new "Phone Call" tab on the Scribe page for a little while now, with a mysterious message. Well the wait is over -- we're excited to introduce Phone Calling in VetRec! You can now make outbound calls directly from within the VetRec app. No more putting your phone on speaker!

How it Works

We support two ways of connecting with your clients:

  • Web: Talk to your clients from your web browser, the same way you would record an in-room visit.
  • Phone: Our system will call you at any phone number (or extension) of your choice, and then we'll dial your client and connect you together.

In both of these flows, we call your client using your clinic's number as caller ID. Don't have a clinic number? No problem, you can use one of ours.

You can even make calls from a personal phone as though it were your registered clinic number!

You can choose whether you want us to play a message to your clients to let them know that the call may be recorded, and customize what that message says.

Once the call is complete, simply hang up and click "Generate Notes". All your existing templates are compatible with phone calling.

Here is a video demonstrating how it works!

Roadmap

Phone calling is available today in the VetRec web app, and will be coming soon in the extension and mobile app. Other planned improvements include:

  • Client Contact Integration: We're working on picking up client phone numbers directly from your PIMS, so you’ll never need to copy-paste a number again.
  • Phone Number Management for Admins: Team admins will soon have more control over which numbers are verified and available for use.
  • Inbound Calls: We’re exploring ways to support recording incoming calls – if your clinic has a setup we should know about, reach out! We’d love to learn from you.
